How to choose flavored lube
A flavored lubricant should taste good, feel smooth and suit where you plan to use it. Check the base, the sweetener and any warming or tingling ingredients before you buy. A flip cap or pump bottle is easier to use one-handed.
Base and compatibility
Most flavored lubes are water-based, so they are generally safe with latex condoms and silicone toys. They wash off easily and rarely stain sheets. Always check the label before using one with condoms. If you need a longer-lasting glide for intercourse, keep an unflavored water-based lube or silicone lube on hand as well.
Sweeteners and ingredients
Edible lube is usually sweetened with sugar alternatives like sucralose or stevia, and some formulas use glycerin for taste. Many people prefer glycerin-free and sugar-free formulas for use beyond oral play. If you have sensitive skin, read the ingredient list and patch test on your inner arm first.
Warming and tingling gels
Some oral lubes and clitoral gels add mint, cinnamon or menthol for a warming or cooling feel. Sensation varies from person to person, so start with a small amount and add more only if you like it. For more arousal products, see enhancers and stimulants.
Picking a flavor
Fruity flavors like strawberry and watermelon are the most popular. Dessert flavors such as chocolate and vanilla taste richer. Travel sizes and sampler packs let you try several before committing to a full bottle. For full-body touch, pair a favorite with oils and lotions from massage and body products.
